- In older patients, can occur more easily (e.g. mild trauma, deceleration injury) - related to brain atrophy w/tension on bridging veins
- Anti-platelet meds, anti-coagulants
- Older age, brain atrophy
- Change in behavior/level of consciousness
- Acute to sub-acute to chronic/progressive
- Pace of symptoms related to rate of bleeding, degree of brain compression, area of brain affected, level of pre-morbid functionality
