Typically from osteophyte, ruptured discs, degenerative changes or combinations--> narrowing neuroforamina and pinching the root
Usually involves L5 or S1roots
Symptoms
Acute if disc herniation or trauma; more typically sub-acute and chronic, pain radiates from low back down leg in accordance w/distribution of nerve, sx wax and wane
