Etiology

  • Tricyclics, anihistamines, other
  • Can be intentional or inadvertent overdose

Symptoms

  • Hallucinations
  • Blurred vision
  • Rapid onset < 12h after exposure
  • Agitated confusion
  • Inability to urinate
  • Abdominal discomfort

Physical Exam Findings

  • Flushed
  • Tachycardia
  • Dilated pupils
  • Ileus
  • Normal reflexes
  • Can have fever to > 38.8
  • Agitated delirium
  • Dry mucous membranes
  • Urinary retention
  • Dry, red & warm skin
