Anticholinergic Syndrome

Etiology

  • Tricyclics, anihistamines, other
  • Can be intentional or inadvertent overdose

Symptoms

  • Hallucinations
  • Blurred vision
  • Rapid onset < 12h after exposure
  • Aggitated confusion
  • Inability to urinate

Physical Exam Findings

  • Fever to > 38.8
  • Flushed
  • Tachycardic
  • Ileus
  • Normal reflexes
  • Aggitated delirium
  • Dry mucous membranes
  • Urinary retention
  • Dry, red& warm skin
