- Age onset teens to 30s, fam hx
- Symptoms are positive, negative & cognitive
- Positive sx: losing touch w/reality→ delusions, hallucinations, disordered or dysfunctional thinking, agitation
- Negative sx: lack of interest in anything, inability to follow thru w/plan, flat affect, speaking little, social withdrawal
- Cognitive sx: impaired ability to understand & use info, impaired ability to make immediate use of learned info, impaired ability to focus/concentrate
- Sx are persistent
