Pityriasis Rosea

Etiology

  • Thought to be viral assoc

Symptoms

  • Initial eruption is 2-5cm scaly "herald patch" on trunk, neck or legs
  • Followed w/in days to weeks by wider spread eruption→ trunk, neck, back, legs→ many oval, scaly, patches
  • Variably puritic
  • Lasts 6-8w, then resolves spontaneously

Physical Exam Findings

  • Many oval, scaly, patches w/central clearing
  • Can have "Christmas tree" distribution, often on back
