Risk Factors

  • Age > 50
  • Alcohol abuse
  • HPV infection
  • Smoking or chewing tobacco

Symptoms

  • Hoarseness
  • Hemoptysis
  • No healing sore in mouth
  • Painful persistent ulcer
  • Difficulty or painful swallowing
  • Persistent sore throat
  • New lump found on neck while shaving or other

Physical Exam Findings

  • Non-healing ulcer in mouth
  • Firm, indurated edges
  • Firm, matted neck region adenopathy
