- Diabetes is the most common cause of chronic renal disease
- Typically causes glomerular disease w/non-nephrotic range proteinuria
- Often occurs in concert w/hypertensive nephrosclerosis
- Slowly progressive fatigue
- DM also contributed to non-healing wounds, visual loss, claudication, angina/mi, stroke
- Peripheral neuropathy
- Diminished peripheral pulses
- Hypertensive nephrosclerosis
- Atherosclerosis
