- Toxin mediated, w/primary staph infection often distant (e.g. nares)
- Typically in neonates and infants
- Can occur in compromised adults and those w/chronic renal disease
- Acute, painful, red skin
- Then develop blisters and desquamation
- High mortality in adults (not kids)
- Red skin w/subsequent blisters and desquamation
- Predilection for neck, groin and axilla
