Benign Familial Pemphigus (Hailey-Hailey)

Etiology

  • Rare genetic disorder

Risk Factors

  • Family history of others w/similar symptoms
  • Sometimes triggered by heat, friction, sun, trauma

Symptoms

  • Blisters and erosions that occur in axilla, inguinal creases, neck and skin folds
  • Come and go spontaneously, without scarring
  • Sometimes itch or burn
  • Can become super-infected

Physical Exam Findings

  • No scarring
  • Waxing and wanting blisters and erosions
  • Affect axilla, groin, neck, skin folds
  • As evolve, can lead cracked skin
