Etiology

  • Other trauma
  • Traction on plexus
  • Stretch via direct blow to supraclavicular fosss

Symptoms

  • Depends on which roots injured: burner/stinger→ often football related→ C5/6 injury→ acute, self limited, burning/numbness/tingling, weakness of affected arm

Physical Exam Findings

  • C5/6→ weak shoulder abduction/elevation, external rotation, supination/flexion of forearm
  • Diminished brachioradialis and biceps reflexes, numbness lateral shoulder
