Etiology

  • Rare d/o
  • Cross over between lupus, scleroderma, and polymyositis

Symptoms

  • Fatigue
  • Fatigue
  • Muscle and joint aches
  • Weakness, proximal > distal
  • Finger pain after exposure to cold; can lead to non-healing ulcers
  • SOB/DOE with pulmonary htn or interstitial lung dz
  • GERD and dysphagia

Physical Exam Findings

  • Facial rash
  • Raynauds (secondary) → fingers blanch/hurt when exposed to cold temp; can result in digital ulcers, necrosis
  • Sausage type swelling of fingers
  • Elevated JVP, edema, loud P2, other findings of plum htn
  • Dry crackles if interstitial lung disease
