  • Typically starts as dental infection
  • Spreads to submandibular space

Symptoms

  • Acute
  • F
  • Drooling
  • Neck/submandibular area pain and swelling
  • Difficulty swallowing
  • Airway compromise

Physical Exam Findings

  • F
  • Ill appearing
  • Sitting up
  • Foul breath
  • Diffiuclty opening mouth
  • Acute & painful submandibular swelling
  • Indurated and red skin
  • Sometimes co-existent dental infection
