- Can also be para-neoplastic
- Antibodies interrupt cellular adhesion in deeper layers of epidermis
- Painful blisters, involving skin and mucous membranes
- Most often mouth, but can be any mucous membrane→ GI (odynophagia/dysphagia)
- Often unroof→ becoming ulcers
- Persist over weeks/months
- Flacid blisters (form within epidermis), which are easily broken
- Most common mucosal surface is mouth, though can affect other mucosa
