Pneumonia that occurs behind mass→ cancer or aspirated foreign body

Conditions that lead to aspiration: neurologic d/o affecting swallowing (stroke, Parkinsons, other), acutely altered mental status (over dose, drug abuse), chronically altered mental status (dementia, other cognitive impairment)
Symptoms
Often recurrent infection in same anatomic area, cough, f, sputum, sob
If cancer→ may have weight loss, hemoptyis
If aspirated foreign body→ hx altered consciousness, drug use, impaired swallowing
