Risk Factors

  • HIV + and cd4 < 200
  • Prolonged steroid use

Symptoms

  • Fever
  • Cough (typically dry)
  • SOB and DOE, usually develop sub-acutely (weeks)

Physical Exam Findings

  • Spectrum of illness - mild to severe (tachycardia, tachypnea, decreased O2 sat)
  • Lung findings of crackles
