Etiology

  • Distal vasospasm assoc w/an underlying d/o such as scleroderma, SLE, cryoglobulinemia, mixed connective tissue disorder, cancer

Symptoms

  • Related to underlying dz
  • In fingers, vasospam can be severe and disabling, leading to ischemia and necrosis and finger loss
  • Spasm often triggered by cold temp

Physical Exam Findings

  • Other findings of scleroderma or underlying dz
  • Can appear white, sometimes blue
  • Fingers w/ischemic changes, ulcers, pain, secondary infection
