Etiology

  • Uncommon cancer arising in mesenchymal cells of stomach, small intestine and other areas GI tract

Risk Factors

  • Age > 50

Symptoms

  • N
  • V
  • Fatigue
  • GI bleeding
  • Epigastric/abd pain
  • Can be indolent or aggressive w/mets causing distant sx
  • 25% found incidentally via surgery/imaging

Physical Exam Findings

  • Mets
  • Anemia
  • Sometimes findings from intra-abd mass
  • May have black stools (if significant bleeding) and guaiac +
