Etiology

  • Autosomal recessive genetic d/o leading to copper deposition in multiple organs (liver, neuro) w/subsequent dysfunction

Risk Factors

  • Age 20-40

Symptoms

  • Jaundice
  • Confusion
  • Tremor
  • Other neuro
  • With acute Wilson's, the liver disease related symptoms appear abruptly (as opposed to typical Wilson's)
  • Sometimes autoimmune hemolysis accompanies

Physical Exam Findings

  • Jaundice
  • Icterus
  • Weakness
  • Numbness
  • Decreased coordination
  • Kayser-Fleischer rings around iris
