- Gall stones that get stuck in cystic duct, then spontaneously pops back into gall bladder
- Cholesterol stones: Female, age > 40, obesity, Native American
- Bilibubin stones (uncommon) from processes that cause hemolysis (e.g. sickle cell disease)
- Right upper quadrant pain
- Can radiate to back, right shoulder
- Often after meals
- When present→ constant then abates spontaneously
- Between episodes, no findings
- During episode of colic, may have reproducible RUQ pain
