- Twisting of a segment of bowel on its mesentery, creating U shaped, closed loop
- Most often occurs in the sigmoid colon
- Chronic constipation, meds that slow motility, disorders that affect neurological fxn (e.g. Parkinsons)
- Geralized or LLQ→if involving sigmoid
- Decreased flatus
- Can be acute or recurrent
