- Canalith freely floating in semi-circular canal--> causing sensation of movement even when none occurring
- Sometimes hx prior trauma
- Abrupt onset vertigo
- Worse w/any head movement→ roll over in bed, assoc n/v, episodes last 10-20 sec, no other neuro Sx
- Usually remits spontaneously
- Sx provoked by Dix-Hallpike maneuver
- Associated rotational nystagmus toward affected side
- Treated w/canalith repositioning
