- Uncommon tumor arising from connective tissues (e.g. bone, muscle, nerves, fat, blood vessels, joint structures, other)
- Relatively uncommon malignancies
- Growing mass that arises from connective tissues
- Other symptoms based on growth into/interference with adjacent structures, metastases
- May originate and/or grow into areas that aren't visible externally (e.g. retroperitoneum)
- Mass arising from muscle or other soft tissue
- Typically firm; sometimes painful
- Often covered by normal appearing skin
- Extra-anatomic (ie clearly not part of normal anatomy)
- Imaging of area with CT, MRI and or US
- Ultimately biopsy and removal of abnormal tissue
