- Causes bacteremia→ sepsis in hosts w/cirrhosis or otherwise compromised hosts
- Exposure via raw/under cooked shellfish
- Wound/skin infection if same hosts exposed via inoculation w/affected water→ walking in surf w/exposed wounds in endemic area
- Extremity pain and swelling if via wound
