- Most common adult acute leukemia
- Hx prior chemo or xrt
- Hx of myelofibrosis
- Essential thrombocythemia
- Polycythemia vera
- Can have stroke like sx or other target organ dysfxn from leukostasis associate w/very high WBC counts
- APL (acute promyelocytic leukemia) sub-type can present w/DIC
- Palor
- Echymoses
- Petechiae
- Hepatomegaly
- Splenomegaly
- Musocal bleeding
- Sometimes adenopathy
- Usually elevated WBCs, often w/blasts on peripheral smear; anemia and thrombocytopenia
- Bone marrow bx to make dx
